I'm Cristina, from Cotiso Guesthouse. In the following lines, I will tell you about the experience I had as a participant at the "Protectors of Heritage" interactive workshop. Pensiunea Cotiso. În următoarele rânduri vă povestesc despre experiența pe care am avut-o în urma participării la atelierul interactiv „Protectorii Patrimoniului”.
In my opinion, "The Capital of Dacia - The Living Museum of European Cultural Heritage" is a promising project, in which wonderful people, with initiative, put their soul into the restoration, revitalization and promotion of the Sarmizegetusa Regia site. As part of this project, I participated in the "Protectors of heritage" workshop. It was supported by Carolina Fernolend, president of the Mihai Eminescu Trust Foundation and architect Leo Orellana, specialist in the revitalization of UNESCO sites. Together they managed to rekindle the flame of hope that it is possible here too.
During these two days, while the workshop lasted, I had the pleasure of seeing dear people from the local community again and forming new connections with people I barely knew, but who quickly enter your soul. We discussed the exceptional value of the Sarmizegetusa Regia site and its surroundings, as well as the problems facing the area. There were constructive and educational discussions from which we learned how important this area and the Sarmizegetusa Regia citadel itself, together with the surrounding citadels, are for Romania's unique cultural heritage. Did you know that the entire site is one of the largest in Europe as a group of tourist objectives registered in the UNESCO heritage? We have an extraordinarily beautiful area with a strong historical and spiritual charge. We just need to join forces and make it count, and this workshop brought us together to succeed.
And because we couldn't do without fieldwork, the next day we visited the Sarmizegetusa Regia site, where we were guided and trained in discussions about our brave ancestors, the Dacians, but also about the need for continuity for the preservation of the site.
It was a unique experience!
