PROJECT PARTNERS

Mihai Eminescu Trust Foundation, Sighișoara, Mureș County

Our vision is to generate pride and well-being among the members of the communities, building – together with them – a self-sustainable future, by emphasizing the importance of the cultural and natural heritage.
The Mihai Eminescu Trust Foundation is an acknowledger and appreciator of values, either of those born from its experience or of past generations, but it lives in the present and acts with integrity and responsibility for the common well-being, for long-term results, for the benefit of future generations. MET creates cohesion and partnerships between people, supports the community spirit, the wealth generated by ethnic diversity groups and multicultural integration, inspires through the personal example, proven in all these 20 years, and focuses passionately on improving the quality of life of its community members and on reviving the natural and cultural heritage of Romania.
Since its establishment in 2000, the Mihai Eminescu Trust Foundation continues to develop and implement in Transylvania the concept of "The Self-sufficient Village", in order to bring life to the local communities and improve the quality of life of the locals, through the responsible valorisation of the cultural and natural heritage, through the involvement of the local human resources, which also consist of the use of traditional wisdom, tools and techniques. The concept of “Self-sufficient Village” evolved, at the beginning it only involved assistance actions for community members and then continuing with its adaptation to local needs. Over time, we have found that the self-sustainability of communities is possible through motivation and cooperativ-responsibility. The Mihai Eminescu Trust Fundation invests time and resources in the development and consolidation of the community, with public consultations, individual meetings, counseling and direct involvement in the execution of projects.
Our mission is to revive the local communities in Romania, by highlighting the cultural and natural heritage, while encouraging the multicultural integration and local economies. We use an integrated approach to sustainable development. This involves and empowers local actors, contributing both to preserve the authenticity of the heritage and to harmonise with the needs of the community.

County Council

The activities in which we are involved are related to regional planning, education, road and public transport management and cultural heritage. The Cultural Department manages projects and cultural activities of any sort: art and music, public health, sports facilities and outdoor activities, but also many related to cultural heritage as well. The latter includes delegated responsibilities under the Cultural Heritage Act, both in relation to the management of archaeological architecture and landscapes.

We are responsible for mandatory social tasks such as upper-secondary education, transport, dental health, regional development and planning, culture and cultural heritage, public health work and climate and the environment as a whole. The county municipality is a central pillar in the development and so as the regional planning of the county. We solve tasks that go beyond the reach of the municipal boundaries in the county, in collaboration with municipalities, enterprises and organizations.
