THE VOICE OF THE SPECIALIST
The ensemble of ancient monuments from the Orăștie Mountains now benefits from the project of putting in value "Capital of Dacia - Living Museum of the European Cultural Heritage".
In the last decade, several good things have happened to these monuments than in the last half century, with the help of local authorities ( Hunedoara County Council ), central (National Heritage Institute, under the leadership of arch. Șt. Bâlici) and with the contribution of extended archaeological research supported by Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj.
The results already accumulated are goods gained and open prospects more than promising. The present project contributes decisively to the structural consolidation of the fortification from Sarmizegetusa Regia (absolutely necessary and welcomed) and, through the educational component, to increase visibility of the site, implicitly, to protect it by sensitizing local communities and visitors to the idea of the immense cultural value that these monuments represent.
Through this project, designed and implemented by professionals, which adds to all efforts combined in recent years, the site is waking up to a new life and asserting, once again, its rightful place in the contemporary cultural landscape.
